How should the fiberglass mobile camp container’s exterior be maintained?

Release Date:

2022-03-06

Summary

How should the fiberglass‑reinforced plastic (FRP) exterior of a mobile camping container be maintained? As is well known, FRP—thanks to its lightweight nature, high strength, corrosion resistance, low energy consumption, seismic performance, sound insulation, excellent formability, and ease of component integration—is widely used in the automotive industry, and mobile camping containers are no exception. However, regardless of how advanced the material may be, mobile camping containers still require proper maintenance.

How should the fiberglass mobile camp container’s exterior be maintained?

As is well known, fiberglass-reinforced plastic (FRP) has been widely adopted in the automotive industry thanks to its lightweight nature, high strength, corrosion resistance, low energy consumption, seismic performance, sound insulation, excellent formability, and ease of component integration. Mobile camping cabins are no exception. All mobile camping cabins require proper maintenance.

Here are some maintenance tips for mobile camping containers:

  1. Avoid contact with sharp and hard objects. If the camping trailer collides with other objects during parking or reversing, it may sustain scratches or other damage; protective measures should be taken.

  2. Repair any damage promptly upon discovery. Regularly inspect the vehicle’s body. If you notice resin chipping, deep scratches, or exposed fibers, address them immediately; otherwise, moisture ingress could accelerate further damage.

  3. The surface of the mobile camp box should always be kept clean. Surfaces stained with oil or other contaminants can be cleaned with ordinary household detergents, but strong corrosive solvents, laundry detergent, or metal wire should not be used to avoid scratches that could affect its appearance. If stubborn stains persist, they may be removed using gasoline, kerosene, diesel fuel, toluene, xylene, styrene, or similar solvents; however, rinse immediately with clean water afterward to prevent penetration into the structure. When cleaning, scraping tools may also be employed, but only bamboo strips or plastic sheets—materials softer than fiberglass—should be used to avoid scratching the surface. For wiping, soft materials such as sweat cloth, gauze, soft towels, and soft foam plastics are recommended.

  4. Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight. Mobile camping container A canopy should be installed at the parking area. Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight can damage fiberglass, and it may also affect the color of rubber coatings.

  5. Regular waxing and polishing. To keep the exterior of the mobile camping trailer shiny and protect its rubber coating, the exterior should be waxed and polished on a regular basis. You can use automotive wax or a wax polish specifically formulated for fiberglass; apply two to three coats, allowing two hours between each application, to build a durable wax film on the fiberglass surface. For best results, use a portable polisher to achieve a gleaming finish that looks as good as new.

  6. Apply paint to maintain a beautiful, durable appearance. While new mobile camping trailers look attractive, their colors gradually fade and lose their luster after three to five years—often worse in darker shades than in lighter ones. To keep your trailer looking its best, when the exterior rubber coating becomes discolored and develops numerous scratches, consider repainting it. Among various painting options, before applying paint, thoroughly clean the trailer’s surface, degrease it with a wax‑removal agent such as mold‑washing water, and lightly sand it with wet sandpaper. For deeper scratches, fill them with epoxy putty, then proceed with priming and painting according to the paint manufacturer’s instructions—spray painting is ideal. A painted mobile camping trailer will look just as good as a brand‑new one.

Fiberglass mobile camping cabins require regular maintenance, and it’s important to learn basic repair skills to extend their service life. Mobile camping container It is highly beneficial for extending service life and improving operational efficiency.
